Put it on your calendar. As the largest fund-raiser of SVDP, we need all hands on deck that day and night. In addition, committee meetings will be starting in the next couple of months, and we have some slots open, so please let Jonna Burck know if you would like to join the committee.
Walk for the Poor – September 2024
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul sponsors the Friends of the Poor Walk in cities all across the country to raise funds for needy individuals and families. Locally, our St. Margaret Mary Conference will hold the walk in September in Algonquin. We will start and end at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and make our way through the neighborhood and down the bike path.
Mobile Food Truck
TBA from 4-6 pm (at St. Monica’s in Carpentersville)
We again will provide a mobile food truck in conjunction with St. Mary’s of Huntley, so we will need to provide volunteers starting at 3 pm.
Thanksgiving Baskets
Be sure to bring oranges and pumpkin pies to church on TBD, November. These are put into community baskets – many of our Friends in Need (FINs) are recipients.
Winter Fundraiser
We will have a table set up at the Eastside Jewel to promote SVDP and take donations on TBD. Let us know if you can help cover the table.

Christmas Giving Tree
Be sure to take a tag from the tree, as many of our FINs benefit from this wonderful holiday event. Also feel free to drop gift cards in the poor box, as we distribute them as well.
ST. JOSEPH’S TABLE
Would anyone like to help coordinate this annual March event?
Lenten luncheon for the whole parish – we invite our Friend’s in Need and need help to prepare for this event that honors St. Joseph.
OZANAM ORIENTATION

This event is for those SVDP members who want to become active members and do home visits. We just finished our “year” and as a conference, went on 113 Home visits. Let us know if you would like to help us out with that.

Remember that meetings are held every first and third Monday in Room 5 of the Ministry Center at 7:00. Everyone is welcome, so if you would like to become more involved, please don’t hesitate to join.
